The team has returned from Germany after 10 stages of the most prestigious Tour in the calendar.
At redop HQ a huge reception was prepared to receive the heroes! A stunning performance from redop secured an impressive 8 results at Germany:
2nd Stage 4: Yasunari Yamauchi
3rd Stage 7: Yasunari Yamauchi
3rd Stage 8: Vasco Assis
3rd Stage 9: Vasco Assis
2nd Stage 10: Vasco Assis
3rd SC: Vasco Assis
2nd GC: Vasco Assis
5th GC: Yasunari Yamauchi
For only 5 seconds, Vasco Assis has lost the GC victory, but he returns home champion nevertheless: National Champion!
The return home happened 2 days after scheduled due to a strike organized by the riders, from which Vasco Assis is one of the faces of the fight for better conditions.
At the arrival all team and a lot of fans welcomed the heroes, even Zacarias Semedo was there to congratulate the team after the controversy he started for being left out of the tour.
"I'm very happy for them, they indeed proved that they can achieve impressive results without my help. However I can not rest knowing that with me maybe we could have given one more step... the GC was in reach...
Anyway, I'm happy for them and I want to officially apologize for my previous behavior. It won't happen again."
In the mean time, redop has presented two new signings for the team: the promising sprinter Plácido Mourinho and climber Pedro Ferrão, and there are rumors about redop being interested in acquiring the time trial specialist Gualdim França.
"I'm proud about the team's success, and we're building a team that can keep the good results for next season.
I'm very happy with the new signings we present today, and there might be some surprises in the near future. I will not promise Gualdim França. He's a nice rider indeed but the price might be too steep... anyway some surprises might happen, let's wait to see it. For now what I can confirm is that we found a new team for Zacarias Semedo. He is to join Team Crazy Downhillers for the next season, but redop secured a buy-back clause in the deal."
